When we talk to our customers here in Alexandria. Virginia, we caution them about the draw backs of a French door with a vinyl frame. On large hinged doors especially, the movement of the vinyl frame can cause issues. All exterior doors need to keep out wind, rain, and dust. French doors and patio doors need a tight seal. When the weather changes, vinyl moves quite a lot. During the nighttime, wintertime, or when temperatures drop, a vinyl swinging door should fit well. When the temperature gets hot-look out! The vinyl hinged panels may stick or drag at the bottom. They may become inoperable. FIBERGLASS is best for doors that are hinged.
Sliding Vinyl Replacement Doors can be a “good bang for the buck.” When we remove aluminum sliding glass doors, we can usually replace them with vinyl. Vinyl replacement doors are less expensive than fiberglass ones. We do not have the same issues with vinyl sliding doors as we do with hinged ones.
All of our glass doors for replacement include double pane Low E glass. This high performance insulated glass chamber can include argon gas. Argon gas is heavier and denser than air. Having argon is like a blanket of insulation in between the glass. Sliding glass doors with argon provide sound absorption, so your home or business is quieter. See our Glass Options.
